Balance. Like most things in life, I've found that the key to success in our marriage, journey through parenthood and time spent traveling is balance.
It's not always easy to achieve – since Roselyn joined our family, I admittedly haven't been great at prioritizing time for Ryan and I. Though I look forward to our date nights and the quality time we spend together, it's still very difficult for me to leave Rosie. So, like most parents to young children, we don't get out as often as we'd like.
Thankfully, we have incredible grandparents, family and friends that worked together to make it possible for us to have a staycation in Scottsdale to celebrate our 5-year anniversary and the 12 years we've spent together!
We had a great time at the Andaz Scottsdale Resort and Spa – a mid-century modern resort near Camelback Mountain and Old Town Scottsdale – and can't wait to return.
Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find that Andaz had upgraded us to their Saarinen Bungalow after hearing that we were celebrating our anniversary. They even took the time to send over a complimentary Cabernet Sauvignon and dessert as well!
We had an incredible stay at Andaz Scottsdale and it was great to have time to spend together without rushing through a conversation or meal. Though we missed Rosie so much and were looking forward to coming back home, we also realized that we need to make time for ourselves as well, to be the best parents to her that we can be.
We're looking forward to having dinner at home with Rosie on our anniversary tomorrow and to what the next 5, 10, 15+ more years will bring.
