Ride the Incline in Pittsburgh

This week we decided to cross another thing off our "To Do" list in Pittsburgh, by setting apart a day to ride the historic Monongahela Incline and take in the best views of the city!

"The Incline" – as it is known locally – is a cable car that is over a century old. It was created for use by the German immigrants who settled on the steep hillsides surrounding the city in the 1800s, and is the oldest operated incline in the U.S. Today, it carries passengers like us up its tracks to sightsee and take in panoramic views of Pittsburgh.

It is always great to be tourists in your own city for a day, and we are so happy that we had the opportunity to ride the incline in Pittsburgh. It was such a unique experience that allowed us to feel like we took a step back in time – if only for a moment!

We spent the rest of the day exploring Mt. Washington and Station Square, but can't wait to go back to ride the incline and take in the city lights at night. You can experience what these city lights and views look like from this timelapse of Pittsburgh:
